Impatient Chief Fans
The chiefs, sitting at 4-9, are a disgrace to their fans! Or so the many frustrated fans that fill the message boards after every game. What has truly been a horrible season for everyone of the diehard Chiefs fans is beginning to take it's toll on the usually stable minded fan base. While I am not surprised by the numerous calls for a coaching change, I wish Herm Edwards was on his way out as much as all of them, I am still floored by the hoards of fans pleading, begging, screaming for Carl Peterson to sign Bill Cowher! Let's get this strait. First of all, I have no problem with Bill "The Chin" Cowher. I think he is a good coach. I think he demands his teams to be physical and tough. I believe he wants to win as much as any coach in the NFL. What I do have a problem with is fans asking for the old-school mentality that Cowher brings. It's the same old story, play tough defense and hope you can squeeze out a win. This is the same philosophy of Marty Schotenheimer and, can I say, HERM Edwards. To the fans that are on this Cowher wagon, think back a few years. We used to own Bill Cowher every year. I remember Joe Montana having his way with them in the playoffs, Marty's graveyard. They might have been the only team we could beat in the post season. Do you really want to wait fifteen years for Cowher to back into the playoffs, and then immediately slide back into a .500 club? Or do you want new blood? I for one would like to see the chiefs get a young, fiery coach that will bring an attitude of winning, and winning big. Many people come down on belichick for running up the score. I would love to have a coach that will score as many points as he possibly can. Let's get one in KC and stop wishing for the mediocre and hoping we get lucky! ChiefsUniverse.com

IF you don’t have our golf shoes, that does not render your golf equipment incomplete. The golf clubs wont kick you out if you turn up wearing your basketball shoes for once.

We are currently in the process of getting some writers for every NFL team. Obviously some are already covered for example the Ravens, Dolphins, Giants and Chiefs. We currently just got a Cowboys writer so look forward to that. All Scouting reports are currently being worked on look for them by the opening of the site on September 1st.

If you would like to write at all please contact me at either email address. admin@sport-buzz.com or yboord028@aol.com . Thanks

Chiefs: No One To Run
Taking along your golf carts is an extremely important thing on your golf vacations, or you might end up playing lacrosse for most of the time.

Herman Edwards will walk into Arrowhead Stadium today and make his way to his office, just like any other day.  He will pour over all the paperwork that is cumbersome for any head coach. He will go over the outline for the practices.  He will meet with coaches.  He will get his team ready to practice against the Vikings.  If anyone dares ask questions about his 2 absent star running backs they might want to be prepared to duck.  Edwards is not timid about telling you exactly what he thinks or feels.

Herm is in his second year as head coach of the Chiefs.  He will insist that he doesn't worry about those who are not at camp.  He will tell you that those that do show up will be ready to play on any given Sunday. He will tell you the Chiefs will be alright no matter who he has behind the quarterback.  However the questions in the fan's minds is: What kind of offense will we have now?

It's only been a year since the leagues best offense became an offense that couldn't muster a first down... in 30 minutes... in the playoffs... wow.  That makes even the most diehard fan cringe.  But now we have a problem... no workhorse runner.

Larry Johnson carried the Chiefs last season. 1700 yards and 416 carries.  Larry has decided he needs more money if he is going to finish his contract with the Chiefs.  He may deserve the money, but as Dick Vermiel would say it's time to pull the diaper off. Larry could be a premier back in the league if he could get past the selfish behavior and become a team-oriented player.  He should take a few pages from a Trent Green biography and study them.  Study them hard!

On the other side of the fence you have the illusive Priest Holmes.  One of the best backs in the NFL before his neck injury that no one seems to know anything about.  He has decided to rejoin the chiefs and make sure that they get the first downs in the playoffs.  However, even when he was considered one of the best, he couldn't make it through an entire season without being injured.  Priest may not be the answer when it comes to carrying the ball 400 times a season.

I was never a fan of the "running back by committee" that Martyball introduced.  But if the Chiefs want to be a serious contender this year, they need both of these men to take their place on the field.  They will push each other to be better, and likewise, push the team.  They could take the load off of each other and keep their legs fresher.  However at the moment, we are seeing a lot of Michael Bennet.

This could be a great year with an incredible defense.  But if Herm's strategy to wear teams down with a run and good defense is going to work, we need our star running backs.

Not unimportant in these matters is the fact that Herm may start Croyle at QB this season. Croyle has never had the team on his shoulders in must-win situations. If Priest is still fragile and LJ is still nursing, this could be a long season for the Chiefs.
